Profession
The automation electrician is the person who assembles, commissions, modifies, adjusts, maintains and repairs automated equipment (industrial robots, lifts, etc.) based on specifications, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams or “manufacturer” documents.
To work on these complex systems, he/she needs to master the following fields: electricity (electronics, etc.), mechanics (pneumatics, hydraulics, etc.) and automation (programming, PLCs, etc.).
He/she has a logical mind, is able to make the links between these disciplines and understands the “system” aspect of a complex installation. He/she masters the usual technical vocabulary to communicate with other professionals.
He/she works on the production site or in the laboratory (repairs at component level), very often as part of a team. Their work is varied.

- Reading, understanding and drawing up electrical, electronic and mechanical diagrams
- Analysing how an installation works
- Make connections and link up the installation
- Dismantle, reassemble and replace simple electrical, electronic and mechanical components
- Carry out appropriate tests to check equipment
- Use specialised software
- Carry out servicing in accordance with maintenance instructions
- Identify a fault, determine the cause and find a solution
